Management

The Management structure of Trillium Mutual Insurance flows from the General Manager to the Managers of each Department. The Department Managers meet with the General Manager on a weekly basis reporting their Department activity. The Department Managers also provide a report to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.

Joe Dietrich, C.I.P. - President/C.E.O.

Joe has worked for the company since 1982. As C.E.O., he reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for ensuring that all Board policies are implemented. He obtained the Agricultural Business Management diploma from Centralia College in 1979. He obtained the Chartered Insurance Professional designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada in 1979. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program in 2007. He is the immediate past-chair of the Canadian Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (CAMIC), and still serves on the board of directors. He is also a board member for the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce.

Carla Layton, C.I.P. - Manager of Underwriting

Carla started her career in the insurance industry in 1995 with a diploma from Conestoga College, General Business. Carla has extensive industry experience. In 2007 she joined The Economical Insurance Group as a Senior Underwriter, Personal Insurance and most recently, Team Leader, Personal Insurance. Prior to joining Economical, Carla spent over 5 years at Howick Mutual Insurance Company in underwriting and over 6 years as a registered insurance broker. Carla attained her Chartered Insurance Professional designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada in 2008. As Manager of Underwriting, Carla oversees all aspects of the underwriting department, including the development of products, pricing and services. Carla resides in Listowel with her family, and is actively involved in minor sports.

Pam Murray C.H.R.P., G.I.E. - Manager of Human Resources and Administration

Pam joined Trillium in March of 2008 as the Human Resources Coordinator which was a newly formed position for Trillium. Prior to joining Trillium, Pam was employed as the Director of Human Resources for 14 years at North Wellington Health Care. Pam has recently been appointed as the Manager of Human Resources and Administration and oversees employee relations, recruitment/selection, salary/benefit administration, education and training, organizational development performance review, legislated employment issues, and occupational health and safety. She is also responsible for Central Administration and building functions. Pam attained her Certified Human Resources Professional designation in 2005 and recently completed the General Insurance Essentials program. Pam and her husband David live in the Moorefield area and are busy with their 3 grandsons.

Ron Wilson, C.M.A. - Manager of Finance

After graduating from Conestoga College with a Business Administration/Accounting diploma in 1980, Ron continued his education to obtain his Certified Management Accountants Designation in November, 1990. Before joining Trillium Mutual Insurance in March, 2004, Ron was employed as the Manager of Financial Accounting and Reporting at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener for 13 years. Ron is currently the Manager of Finance for Trillium Mutual Insurance. Ron prepares company financial statements, and ensures that Trillium Mutual Insurance complies with government financial requirements. Ron and his wife Debbie live in Atwood along with their two daughters.

Tammy Hickling,B.A., CIP - Manager of Business Development

Tammy started her career in the Insurance Industry in 1995. She has been with Trillium since 1999 and worked in various roles within the underwriting department. Tammy was appointed to the Manager of Business Development in January 2008. Tammy is responsible for all Distributor relationships and acts as the liaison with the Company. She is also responsible for Marketing, Public relations and the Development of Products, Pricing and Services. Tammy obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Communication Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1994 and achieved her Chartered Insurance Professional designation in 2004. Tammy is currently enrolled in the Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program (AALP) through the Rural Ontario Institute and sits on the Executives of the Mildmay-Carrick Agricultural Society and Mildmay Minor Hockey. Tammy and her husband have 3 daughters and operate a Dairy farm near Hanover.
