Our History

Trillium Mutual Insurance Company has three anniversaries. These are January 1, February 29 and May 22. "How could this be?" you may ask. These three dates are equal in importance and in each case represent the formation of an Ontario Corporation. On January 1, 2004 Trillium Mutual was created with the amalgamation of Formosa Mutual Insurance Company (founded May 22, 1880) and Elma Mutual Insurance Company (founded February 29, 1884).

The dynamic of this evolution is an organization that recognizes the value of balance between the past, the present and the future. The Board of Directors is dedicated to visionary leadership and sound corporate governance. The employees are dedicated to professional and personal development and support the corporate appetite to always be compliant with regulations and best practices.

The past is storied and sound. The present is about planning for the future. The future will be better because Trillium turned threats and challenges into opportunities.
